BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said fear of the return of fascism has increases manifold due to 'some of our activities.'
Speaking as the chief guest at Tofazzal Hossain Manik Mia Hall of Jatiya Press Club in the capital on Thursday (November 28), he said fascism got defeated. But, it might come back at any moment again. "We should not pave the way of returning of fascism," he said.
According to the BNP Secretary General, unfortunately some of us have indulged in some undesirable activities which might pave the way of returning fascism in the country. "Now, it is time for us to move forward altogether."
Expressing regret, Mirza Fakhrul said: "Today I feel great pain. Before coming here, 'Mayer Daak' coordinator Sanzida came at my house along with her brother. She said, "Sir, I have become disheartened.' I asked her why? She replied, 'Sir, what I have been witnessing over the last couple of days, I have become disheartened. A dreadful situation has emerged in the country following the death of our beloved people. I belive the situation is being created in a very planned way, and it is being done by the fascism."
Fakhrul also asked, "Those who of us were against the fascism, and fought, and struggled, why we are creating division now? We are afraid of hearing various remarks of different people. We are now trying to take the entire movement to a different direction. We should have only one single objective now. It is going to parliament through an election after necessary reforms to build a truly democratic state."
The BNP leader said, "Instead of creating division among us, we should try to move forward. It is unfortunate that 53 years have already been passed but we have not been able to transfer of power through peaceful means. We have struggled all the time, we have fought all the time, we are killing our brothers."
