The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), the country’s premier capital market, witnessed an upward trend in early trading on Thursday.
In the first two-and-a-half hours of trading, shares and units totaling 9.99 crore were exchanged through 88,539 transactions. The total turnover during this period amounted to Tk 259 crore, showcasing robust activity in the market, UNB reports.
A total of 389 companies participated in trading during this time. Among these, prices for 250 companies increased, 70 companies experienced a decline, and 69 companies’ prices remained unchanged.
The key indices of the DSE also recorded gains. The benchmark DSEX index rose by 26.41 points to reach 5,224.35, while the Shariah-based DSES index climbed by 7.58 points to 1,174.15. Additionally, the DS30 index, representing blue-chip stocks, increased by 10.38 points to settle at 1,927.81.
