Man found dead at Gopalganj restaurant

Police have recovered the body of a man from a restaurant in Gopalganj Sadar upazila on Wednesday. 

The incident took place at the restaurant named "Pitha Garden" in Phatalia area of Gopalganj Sadar upazila, located along the Dhaka-Khulna highway. 

The victim, Ferdous Sheikh, 45, originally from Pakurtia area of Tungipara upazila, was reportedly with a woman at the restaurant on Tuesday evening. The restaurant, while primarily serving food, also offers rooms for overnight stays. 

According to the restaurant staff, Ferdous and the woman stayed in a room overnight, but when the staff went to check on them by the afternoon of Wednesday, they found his body inside the room. The woman had reportedly fled the scene before the staff arrived. 

Upon receiving a report from the restaurant, police arrived and retrieved the body. 

Ferdous's brother, Mizanur Rahman Miju, has alleged that his brother was murdered deliberately. 

Gopalganj Sadar Police Station officer-in-charge Mir Sajedur Rahman stated that an investigation is ongoing. The body has been sent to Gopalganj General Hospital for an autopsy.
