Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has given financial assistance of Tk 3 lakh to each family of five out of 14 cops killed during July-August.
The financial assistance was handed over to the families of the deceased police members on Wednesday.
At the instructions of DMP Commissioner Sheikh Md Sazzad Ali, senior DMP officers went to the houses of each of the deceased policemen to inquire about the family members wellbeing and handed over the money, said a police press release.
While handing over the donation, the DMP Commissioner personally spoke to the family members of the deceased over mobile phone.
At that time, he expressed deep condolences and sympathy to the family members and assured them of being by their side and providing maximum support in case of any need in the future.
A special welfare meeting was held at the Bangladesh Police Auditorium at Rajarbagh Police Lines on Saturday morning under the chairmanship of DMP Commissioner.
In the meeting, the DMP Commissioner announced financial assistance of Ta 3 lakh from the DMP's own fund to each of the families of the 14 members of the DMP killed in July-August.
He also expressed his firm determination to personally meet the family members of the deceased and provide maximum support.
