Students must avoid addiction to social media

Dear sir,
Many people who use social media worldwide are younger than 18 years old. For teens and young adults, social media can be very harmful. A 2019 study in the UK of 13-16-year-olds found that students whose mental health and well-being get worse over time are those who spend more than three hours a day on social media.

A total of 12,000 people took part in the study. A survey from 2016 at MIT found that the more often students use social media, the more likely they are to have severe depression and 20% more likely to have anxiety problems.
Researchers also found that using social media late at night was linked to wrong grades on several tests and to high levels of anxiety and depression. Now, the question is why student use of social media is still growing when there is so much evidence that it is terrible for them. Neuroscience and the way our brains work hold the key.
