Three members of the Kuki-Chin National Front, an armed organisation operating in the Chattogram Hill Tracts, have been killed in a shootout with the army in Bandarban's Ruma, according to the Inter-Service Public Relations.
"The Army located a secret KNF hideout deep in the jungle in Ruma Upazila," said ISPR Assistant Director Rashedul Alam Khan in a statement on Sunday. "Army personnel then conducted a raid in the area in the morning. Three KNF members were killed in a gunfight at the time."
Weapons and other materials were recovered from the KNF hideout, the statement said. However, it did not give details of the number of weapons or the materials recovered. The army's operation is still ongoing, the ISPR said.
During the operation, a cache of arms and ammunition was recovered from the site, the ISPR release mentioned.
