MANIKGANJ, Nov 24: A court in the district on Sunday sentenced two people to life-term imprisonment in a case under the Narcotics Control Act.
The court also fined the convicts Tk 10,000 each, and in default, they will have to suffer six more months in jail.
Manikganj District and Sessions Judge Court Judge Liakat Ali Mollah handed down the verdict in the afternoon.
The convicted persons are: Nazrul Islam of Hargaj area under Saturia Upazila in Manikganj, and Rabijul Islam, a resident of Singdair area under Nagarpur Upazila of Tangail District.
According to the case statement, law enforcement members arrested Nazrul Islam and Rabijul Islam while they were dealing 50 grams of heroin at 88, Nagar Bhaban Road under Manikganj Sadar PS.
A case under the Narcotics Control Act was filed with the PS concerned in this regard.
The investigative officer of the case submitted the charge-sheet to the court after investigation, and following this, the court pronounced the verdict on Sunday after examining the case records and taking depositions of the witnesses.
