A protest and human chain were organized by students, teachers, and locals of Phulbari upazila in Kurigram district on Sunday, demanding justice for the murder of a college student.
The protest took place at 1:30 PM in front of Phulbari Degree College gate, where participants demanded the arrest and punishment of the perpetrators.
Hamidul, a third-year degree student of the college and resident of Dakshin Nagarajpur village in Bhanga Mor union, was brutally killed on the night of November 4 by a group of assailants disguised as robbers.
After the human chain, a memorandum was submitted to the Upazila Nirbahi Officer and the Officer-in-Charge of Phulbari Police Station.
The college principal, Aminul Islam, addressed the gathering, along with Assistant Professor Azad Hossain, lecturers Arabur Rahman and Zakaria Mia, and first-year degree student Sujon Mia.
Despite 20 days passing since the tragic incident, the police have yet to uncover the motives or identify the culprits behind Hamidul's murder. Protesters expressed their frustration over the delay and urged authorities to expedite the investigation to ensure justice.
