“Movement” is a very popular word nowadays. The popular uprising of July seems to have raised the stamp of movement in the veins of Bengalis. Even after the centenary of the revolution, their emotions still remain in the breath. This unexpected victory has once again made Bengalis understand that the language of protest can win the fight for rights. Therefore, independence was achieved for the second time through the protest of the students. After ending 15 years of injustice, a new sun has appeared this time. So maybe the momentum of the movement is still keeping within themselves. The reflection of which is coming forward in one way or another every day in the Shahbagh/Science lab square or on the front page of the newspaper. It is as if the mood of the movement is not over.
Just as everyone has the right to demand the realization of rights, it is also within that right to obtain the rights that are deserved. So this movement or human bond is coming back in a new form every day. Everyone is coming down to the streets with the aim of realizing their rights. Either road closure or work stoppage, the people of Bangladesh are demanding their demands in new ways. Sometimes police, sometimes Ansar, sometimes doctors. Those who have been happily singing the praises of the government for 15 years, suddenly within a few days, their dissatisfaction and neglected attitude have started to make their existence known in a strange way. The name of the police has always been at the forefront of abuse of power, but after gaining independence, it was found that they were neglected. Ansar Rao, the policeman who shot dead students in the chest in July, demanded their rights instead of demanding justice. Even the rickshaw driver who drives a van rickshaw on the road to provide one meal to his family has to provide food to meet the needs of the police house. Sidewalk nut vendors also provide food to police houses. Yet the police struggle to meet the needs of their families. So their demands should be accepted.
Next let's come to the rights of doctors. The so-called medical community of Bangladesh is busy trying to make themselves doctors through hard work. Professionally, the doctor should be the most humane, but in view of the reality, the scene of the most inhumanity comes forward. The best proof of this is when we think of the wounded martyrs of the July uprising. Even before this many patients have died due to lack of attention of the doctor. From the mother to the child, they are suffering from this neglect and are falling towards death. The treatment system in government hospitals is not unknown to anyone. Apart from cleaning, food, other services, the service is never available on time. Moreover, the amount of money demanded as doctor's fees in private hospitals is not possible for the common middle class to handle. Many people are pushing their lives towards death without treatment. Medical trade is a well-known trade in Bangladesh that everyone knows. Despite those words, the doctors are neglected, they also have to accept their demands.
Whether there is electricity in the rural areas or not, whether the customers' bills are correct or not, the demands of the rural electricity workers have to be met. Otherwise they will go on strike. Then the people of one part of the country will not get electricity. No matter how much irregularities they do, no matter how much corruption they do, they also have a claim.
Mandatory on working age. 35,37,40 This is how claims make themselves known. Currently, the number of unemployed in Bangladesh is 25 lakh 90 thousand. Which proves failure for a country like Bangladesh. And to calculate the responsibility of this unemployment lies less on the unemployed and more on the previous government. By misusing the power, incompetent representatives were placed in high positions and qualified people were neglected. The dreams of many youths have been broken due to the lack of this job. Many have also chosen the path of suicide. Which is very shameful for us as a nation. Incompetents have given more priority to those who are equally incompetent with responsibilities. As a result, the talented future of the country may have fallen, or they may have left the country. And the geniuses who could not graduate for seven years have been the masters of destroying the country. This loss to the country is irreparable. However, if the next five years are damaged while fixing the ruins of the past fifteen years, then there is doubt as to how logical this claim is. A demand to increase the age with consistency might have been more reasonable.
Then let us come to the demands of Dhaka seven colleges. In 2017, seven reputed colleges of Dhaka were affiliated to Dhaka University, which was earlier under National University. Although affiliated, they have to face various crises and complications. Their problems were not alleviated much by this decision. After the July uprising, they demanded the establishment of a full-fledged university with seven colleges. They said that Dhaka University always denies their responsibility even though it is under Dhaka University. Their demands once became so fierce that they injured passengers by hurling brickbats at moving trains in order to fulfill their demands. People do not hesitate to give their lives to get their demands justly. But they did not hesitate to take their lives to fulfill their demands. People of all ages including children, women, old people were injured in this attack. Farmers, workers, poor people of all levels want to educate their children, with the aim of making them human. And some fathers, mothers, brothers and sisters were innocently attacked by these educated people. The army is now protesting to meet their demands. They will be people after seven colleges are made universities according to their demands!
Along with these big demands, other demands are seen every day at Paltan, Press Club, Shahbagh, Science Lab intersection. About five or seven people, with a banner, and two people in front of them making videos on mobile phones. This is the demand being raised on social media. Countless such demands are appearing every day at every corner of Dhaka. Their demands should also be accepted.
Everyone has a claim. A street child also needs a roof to sleep at night. A beggar who is unable to feed himself at night despite begging all day has the right to eat three full meals. Even the man shivering for want of winter clothes has the right to clothes. Old teachers who have retired after spending their entire lives in private educational institutions also have a claim. Some children also claim to go to school six days a week and not study on Fridays. Some students also claim to come out with good results without taking classes. The family that travels to different places in the country every year during the summer holidays also has a claim to travel outside the country. Everyone has demands, as well as the desire to fulfill demands. The previous fascist government also has a demand to regain power. If everyone's demands are accepted, it will be seen that even after selling the country, it is not possible to fully accept all the demands of the people of the country.
The human rights of common people are being lost in the midst of so many demands. Everyone has the right to eat three meals a day, to clothing, to medical treatment. Rising market prices have made life difficult for everyone from the middle class to the lower class. Which needs to be remedied first. First priority should be given to the rights of the general public. As we have all achieved freedom from the hands of the fascist government for fifteen years, we have also achieved our own responsibility to build the country. Therefore, it is not only necessary to raise the demand, but to be strong in the role of a responsible citizen by verifying the logic of the demand.
