KAMALGANJ, MOULVIBAZAR, Nov 20: A minor girl drowned in a pond in Kamalganj Upazila of the district on Tuesday afternoon.
The incident took place in Nainar Par Village under Adampur Union of the upazila at around 3 pm.
The deceased was identified as Sadia Begum, 3, daughter of Md Kalan Mia, a resident of Nainar Par Village under Adampur Union in Kamalganj Upazila of the district.
Arja Begum, mother of the deceased, said that Sadia fell in a pond next to the house in the afternoon while the family members were unaware of it. Later on, sensing Sadia's absence, the family members rescued her from the pond and immediately took her to Kamalganj Upazila Health Complex in the district, where the on-duty doctor declared the child dead.
Physician of Kamalganj Upazila Health Complex Dr Kanak Sinha confirmed the death matter, adding that the minor girl had died before being taken to the hospital.
