At least 30 people were injured in a violent clash between two factions of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) in the Bancharampur area of Brahmanbaria, centered around the party's upcoming conference.

The incident occurred on Monday (November 18) at around 11 AM in Bancharampur Municipal Town.
According to local sources, the conflict arose ahead of the BNP's biennial conference scheduled for Wednesday (November 20) in Bancharampur.

The conference will be attended by several key leaders, including BNP's Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Economic Affairs Secretary Engineer Khaled Hossain Mahbub Shyamal, and others. Tensions had been building between the supporters of two prominent party figures—MA Khalek PSC, a former Member of Parliament and BNP's central executive committee member, and Mehedi Hasan Palash, the convenor of the conference implementation committee for Bancharampur.

On the morning of the incident, a protest march was organized by MA Khalek PSC and central BNP executive member Rafiq Sikder from the Palli Biddut Mor in Bancharampur. The march proceeded through the town's main streets and reached Musa Market, where it was met by Palash's supporters, who threw bricks and stones at the procession. The altercation quickly escalated when the opposing factions clashed with local weapons.

During the fighting, motorcycles were set on fire, and several shops were attacked and vandalized. The violence continued for about an hour, leaving at least 30 people from both sides injured.

Bancharampur Police Station officer-in-charge Morshedul Alam Chowdhury confirmed the details, stating that the violence started after Khalek's supporters declared the conference illegal. Palash’s supporters retaliated by throwing bricks, which led to the clash.

The situation is now under control, but authorities are closely monitoring the area, added the OC
