DINAJPUR, Nov 17: New advance potato was sold at Tk 200 per kilogram (kg) in the district on Friday.
This potato arrived at Bahudur Bazar in Dinajpur. Two retailer traders Md Ekramul Haq and Md Rubel Ali came to the market with only 20kg of potato. Consumers purchased this potato on curiosity.
Traders said, they sold per kg at Tk 200 in the morning, but in the afternoon, they sold per kg potato at Tk 140.
It will take 20-25 days for arrival of new potato in markets in full swing.
Lakkon Sarkar of Rajbari area said, new vegetables are required for celebrating Nabanna (new year). That is why he purchased half kg potato at Tk 50. In the last year's new year celebration, he purchased 250gram new potato at Tk 80.
Customer Sajib Adhikari said, "Price is per kg new potato is Tk 200. I have been looking for new potato in markets for the last few days. It is not within in capacity to afford this costly potato. Yet, I have purchased 100gram at Tk 20."
Seller Md Ekramul Haq said, "I purchased this potato from Khansama Pakerhat area on Thursday from a wholesaler at higher price."
Another Md Rubel Ali said, "In the morning, I purchased 10kg potato at Tk 160 per kg at the wholesale rate from Bahadur Bazar. I sold this at Tk 200 per kg in the morning. But in the afternoon, I sold it at Tk 140 per kg."
