A housewife was killed after falling from a battery-powered auto-rickshaw at Nalitabari upazila in Sherpur district.

The deceased, Amirun Khatun, was returning home with her ailing mother, Halima Begum, after seeking medical treatment in Sherpur on Friday evening. The incident happened late at night on a bumpy road near their home.
While traveling back, the rickshaw hit a rough patch, causing a sudden jolt. Amirun Khatun accidentally fell out of the vehicle, sustaining severe head injuries. She was immediately taken to the Nalitabari Upazila Health Complex and later transferred to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries early Saturday morning.

Amirun Khatun, the deceased, was the wife of Rubel Mia from Nokkla Upazila. Nalitabari Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sanowar Hossain confirmed the incident.

Following request from the family, permission was granted to bury the body without an autopsy and an unnatural death case has been recorded at the police station.
