The Ras Festival was celebrated with great enthusiasm in Dinajpur town during the early hours of the full moon.
Since 1998, this annual event has been held at the Shri Shri Giridhari Ji Temple grounds with the aim of achieving spiritual fulfillment.
At exactly 12:01 AM, the festival commenced with the placing of Radha-Govinda idols on a specially designed platform known as "Ras," which devotees then carried in a ceremonial procession. The temple courtyard was beautifully illuminated and from evening through the entire night, prayers and rituals, including puja and arati, took place.
The area became lively and vibrant, filled with thousands of devotees celebrating with joy. Additionally, a 16-session Maha Naam Yajna was organized to mark the occasion.
Devotees mentioned that the festival has been celebrated annually since 1998 at the Shri Shri Giridhari Ji Temple. With the participation of thousands of devotees each year, the event is observed with great pomp and fervor.
Devotees gather at the Ras Purnima to offer prayers and seek blessings for spiritual fulfillment. The Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath is also organized from Roy Saheb Bari area in the town.
