Fair-price bazaar opened in Jhalakathi

JHALAKATHI, Nov 14: Deputy Commissioner (DC) of the district has opened 'Swasti Bazar' in order to tackle syndication and sell agri-products at cheaper prices.

DC Ashrafur Rahman inaugurated the fair-price bazaar on the Sadar Upazila Parishad premises on Wednesday morning. Consumers can purchase agri-items directly from farmers without middlemen.

Superintendent of Police Ujjal Kumar Roy, Additional DC Md Kawsar Hossain, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Saiful Islam, and officials from different government departments were present at the ingural programme.

Customers are happy to get essentials at cheaper prices.

The DC said, "Customers can purchase vegetables from farmers. There is no third party."

'Swasti Bazar' has been arranged jointly by the Sadar Upazila administration and the Department of Agriculture.
