Shanto reaches career high in ICC ODI rankings

Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto reached a career high in the ICC ODI rankings following fine performances against Afghanistan.

Bangladesh, however, lost the three-match series 2-1 with Shanto being ruled out of the series deciding third ODI following a groin injury. He was also ruled out of the Test series against West Indies due to the injury, sustained during second ODI in which he made 76 runs to lead Bangladesh to 68-run win over Afghanistan.

Apart from Shanto, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Mahmudullah Riyad and Mustafizur Rahman have also showed improvement in the ODI rankings.

Shanto leaped 11 spots to joint 23rd with Pakistan's Mohamad Rizwan, with 604 points. Mahmudullah rose 10 slots to joint 44th (533 points) with Australia's Mitchell Marsh, who slipped four places.

Mehedy Hasan Miraz moved up nine places on the bowlers list to joint 23rd with South Africa's Lungi Ngidi (556 points), while Player of the Series, Mohammad Nabi of Afghanistan held on to his number one spot on the all-rounders list after his superb 135 runs and two-wicket in the series.

Miraz has moved up to fourth place in the all-rounders ranking with 116 runs and three wickets in the series.

Mushfiqur Rahim has moved back seven spots. Mustafizur who took eight wickets now sits at 36th place while Taskin Ahmed is three spots behind him. Shoriful Islam has dropped 10 places among the bowlers, going from 24 to 34th place.    —BSS
