Movement by mass uprising injured shows country heading to crisis: Manna

Nagorik Oikya President Mahmudur Rahman Manna has said that the demonstration of the injured in mass uprising indicates that the country is surely heading toward a major crisis.

He made the remark while speaking at a discussion organised by 'Desh Bachao Manush Bachao Andolon' at Jatiya Press Club in the capital on Thursday (November 14).
"With great hopes and aspirations, Professor Muhammad Yunus was given responsibility after bringing him from abroad. But, he even could not ensure the treatment of the injured of mass uprising. Everybody says that Dr Yunus is a great performer. But, he could not generate any hope among people in last 100 days after taking over power," Manna said.

The Nagorik Oikya President said the government is not answering at whose advice it has appointed people like Mostofa Sarwar Faruqui and Sheikh Bashir as advisers. People of Bangladesh now need a government through a free, fair and impartial election.

He also called for launching activities suitable for election.

With 'Desh Bachao Manush Bachao Andolon's president KM Rakibul Islam Ripon in the chair, the discussion was moderated by acting general secretary Raju Ahmed. It was also addressed by BNP Chairperson's advisory council member Abdus Salam and Ganaforum's Subrata Chowdhury, among others.

Speaking at the discussion, BNP Chairperson's adviser Abdus Salam said the movement of the mass uprising injured has brought pain for people. The government cannot meet the basic requirements of people. Besides, no measures are visible to reduce the prices of essentials.

He also raised questions about the competence and acceptability of the advisers.
