Two former Awami League members of parliament (MPs) Solaiman Salim and Ali Azam Mukul chanted 'Joy Bangla' and 'Joy Bangabandhu' slogans at the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) court premises in the capital on Thursday (November 14, 2024).
The chanted the slogans when they were being produced before the CMM court.
At one stage of chanting slogans, Dhaka-7 constituency's former MP and Haji Salim's son Haji Solaiman said, "Sheikh Hasina will come back again."
Chakbazar police arrested Solaiman Salim from a residence at Gulshan in the capital early Thursday in Md Rakib Howlader murder case filed over the murder of Md Rakib Howlader during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement. He is a listed accused of the case.
Police produced him before the court on Thursday showing arrested in the case filed at Chakbazar Police Station. Then investigation officer (IO) inspector Md Abu Khair pleaded to the court to place the accused on a 10-day remand for questioning.
On the other hand, the lawyer representing the accused opposed the remand prayer and sought bail for his client.
However, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Awlad Hossain Muhammad Jonayed directed to send the accused to jail as the main documents of the case were not available. At the same time, the court set November 27 for hearing on remand and bail.
On the other hand, Bhola-2 constituency's former MP Ali Azam Mukul was sent to jail by the court after his arrest in connection with student Nahidul Islam murder case filed with Mirpur Model Police Station.
