A court in Gaibandha district on Thursday (November 14) sentenced younger brother to death by hanging for killing his elder brother.
Additional Sessions Judge Court's judge Md Atiqur Rahman pronounced the verdict early Thursday afternoon.
The court's Public Prosecutor (PP) Niranjan Kumar Ghosh confirmed about the matter.
The case statement says that Arif Billah, an inhabitant of village Hasanpara under Sadullapur upazila in Gaibandha district had a quarrel with his mother over dinner on September 16, 2021. Centering the incident, Arif Billah had an altercation with his elder brother Shahidul. Being angry, accused Arif Billah hit his brother Shahidul on his head. Critically injured Shahidul was first admitted to Pirganj Upazila Health Complex. As his condition deteriorated, he was rushed to the Rangpur Medical College Hospital by his family members. Shahidul succumed to his injury on September 19, 2021. On September 20, 2021, deceased Shahidul's wife Tasfura Akter filed a murder case at Sadullapur Police Station accusing Arif Billah.
