Bangladesh lost its first of the two FIFA International Friendly matches to the Maldives by a lone goal on Wednesday at the Bashundhara Kings Arena, Bashundhara RA in Dhaka.

In the first FIFA match against the Maldives, Bangladesh dominated quite a while in the first half. But the host boys squandered a few chances to score and ultimately gifted the visitors a lead.
The Maldives boys scored from a set piece and silenced the supporters of the hosts. Bangladesh went to the dressing room after conceding a goal to the Maldives.

The 4-4-2 formation was not a fruitful setting for the host boys on the day. Although some attacks were devised from the left flank, the lack of finishing caused a great defeat for the boys. The ball bounced on the crosspiece a few times. What disheartened the fans more was that the ball flew a few inches over the ball more than two times.

Besides, the Maldives custodian Hussein Sharif was literally a thick wall before the goalbar.

However, Bangladesh is ranked 185th in the FIFA world rankings, while the Maldives is ranked 163rd. Thus, a low ranked Bangladesh may find solace in the ranking and the defeat. But, how long will they do that?

The Maldives' National Football Team travelled in Dhaka on Monday to play two FIFA International Friendly matches against Bangladesh.

The second friendly match is to be played on 16 November at the same venue.
