Finance Advisor Dr Salehuddin Ahmed said prices of daily necessities are not decreasing despite steps taken to reduce it. There has been so much chaos in the market though NBR has given many tariff benefits to bring down prices.

"Even after tax has been reduced, the prices are not decreasing. People have become impatient." He made the observation at 'PKSF Day-2024' programme organized by the Palli Karma Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) in the city on Wednesday.

He said, "I told the chief advisor reducing prices in the market is not only the job of the Ministry of Commerce. There are many other factors. We must do a lot to discipline the market, he said.

"We have waived tax on bonds. We have also done well in savings certificates. Now savings certificates automatically renewed. "
The Finance Advisor said, "There are many institutions but there is a big shortage of good institutions. There is a lack of transparency, lack of accountability. I talk to the Governor of Bangladesh Bank every day to see this."

The theme of this year's PKSF Day is 'Financing for Inclusive Growth'. PKSF Founder Managing Director Badiur Rahman was present as the special guest at the event.

PKSF Chairman Zakir Ahmed Khan presided over the event, and its Acting Managing Director Md. Fazlul Quader spoke at the opening of the event.
