Man who fired at protesters in Rajshahi arrested

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested a man named Md Bappi Chowdhury Rony for allegedly opened fire on the students and public during the recent mass movement in Boalia area of Rajshahi on August 5.

Assistant Superintendent of Police Al Amin, Assistant Director of RAB’s Legal and Media Wing, acknowledged the matter and said RAB detained him from Bashundhara residential area at around 1:30AM on Wednesday.

He said they detained Bappi Chowdhury on charges of opening fires at the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement in Rajshahi city.
Further legal actions are underway, the RAB officer added.

Meanwhile, Bappi was accused in a case for firing gunshots with a pistol at the student-people movement in the Boalia area of Rajshahi city on August 5.
