A schoolgirl reportedly committed suicide by consuming poison at Nandigram upazila in Bogura district.
The deceased, Bithi Khatun, was daughter of Badsha Mia from Katham village under Vhatgram union and a tenth-grade student at Nandigram Government Model Pilot High School.
According to reports, a dispute arose between Bithi and her mother when her parents brought up the topic of marriage. Upset and feeling distressed, Bithi consumed poison at her home on Monday evening (November 11) without anyone noticing.
Realizing what had happened, her mother sought help from neighbors and rushed her to Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital. Despite receiving treatment, Bithi passed away later that night.
Nandigram Police Station officer-in-charge Tarikul Islam confirmed the incident, saying, "We have received information about the suicide of Bithi Khatun. After she passed away while under treatment, an unnatural death (UD) case was filed at Bogura Sadar Police Station."
