Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University (MBSTU) organized the International Accounting Day on Sunday.

The event was held at 10 AM on Sunday under the initiative of Department of Accounting.
A colorful procession and seminar was organized in the campus following the occasion. The procession was inaugurated by the university Vice-Chancellor Md. Anwarul Azim Akhand.

Alongside the students, the director of student welfare and counseling center, proctor, chairman of the department and several honorable teachers also participated in the procession.
Later, a seminar titled 'Corruption Perceptions and Theory Development A Journey for Sociology to Accounting and Auditing' was held in the seminar hall of the third academic building. The main article was presented by the professor of Central Queensland University in Australia, Kazi Saidul Islam.

It should be noted that the first International Day of Accounting was celebrated on November 10, 1972 in San Diego, USA. The day was first observed by the San Diego Chapter of the Institute of Management Accountants and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants (CPA's). On November 10, 1494, Italian mathematician Luca Bartolomeo de Pacioli published a pamphlet titled Summa de arithmetica, geometria, proportioni et proportionalit in Venice. This is the first book to summarize mathematical knowledge. It discusses double entry bookkeeping and commercial accounting.

This day is celebrated in different countries of the world to encourage the work of professional accountants, to understand the importance of this work among common people and to make young people interested in this profession.
