Four were crushed under the wheels of a train in Jongra union of Patgram upazila in Lalmonirhat district on Monday evening
The victims were Azizar Rahman, 60, a resident of ward No. 1 of Jongra union of the upazila, Mokbul Hossain, 62, and Mobarak Hossain, 65, of the same area, and Abdul Wahab Mia, 65, of ward No. 2 of the union.
Locals said the incident occurred at around 5.30PM on Monday. A Santahar-bound train ‘Karotoa Express’ from Patgram ran them over as they were sitting on railway tracks in the in Alauddin Nagar Railway station area of the upazila, leaving them dead on the spot.
On information, fire service and civil defense members recovered the bodies and handed over those to Patgram police station.
Sub-Inspector of the police station Bibhuti Bhusan Roy Broti acknowledged the matter and said a police team has been sent to spot. They informed the matter to Lalmonirhat Railway Police Station. They will take necessary legal action in this regard.
