Students and local residents have staged a protest demanding the death penalty for a BCL leader, who allegedly brutally murdered his aunt after being failed to vilolate her, at Begumganj upazila in Noakhali.
The demonstration took place on Monday in front of Noakhali Press Club, where protesters called for justice for the victim and protection for her grieving family.
During a subsequent press conference at the Press Club, the victim's daughter, alongside coordinators from Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, voiced their concerns.
Speakers at the conference accused some individuals, including the BCL leader Rahul 19, of threatening the victim's family. They highlighted that Nilufa Jahan Ratna, the second accused in the case, has been harassing the victim's family after being released on bail.
Additionally, there are allegations of attempts to reduce the accused Akash's age on official documents to lessen his punishment.
The protesters called for authorities to ensure the safety of the victim's family and prevent any attempts to protect the perpetrator.
