Chief Adviser of the interim government Prof Dr. Muhammad Yunus on Sunday appointed three new advisers with the status of cabinet minister and two more special assistants with the status of state minister.
Renowned businessman Shaikh Bashiruddin, also managing director of Akij-Bashir Group, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser Mahfuj Alam, known as mastermind of the July-August Uprising, and renowned film maker Mostafa Sarwar Faruqui have been made new advisers to the Council Advisers of the interim government.
Besides, former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Khoda Box Chowdhury and Professor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University's (BSMMU) Pharmacology Department Dr. Sayedur Rahman have been appointed as new special assistants to the chief adviser.
The three new advisers have taken oath at the Bangabhaban Darbar Hall on Sunday evening. President Mohammed Sahabuddin administered the sworn in programme. Cabinet Secretary Dr. Shaikh Abdur Rashid conducted the swearing in ceremony.
Chief Adviser Prof Dr. Muhammad Yunus and advisers of the interim government's Advisory Council, high officials and politicians attended the event. With the inclusion of three new advisers, the number of the Advisory Council members has increased to 24 including the chief adviser.
The Cabinet Division issued separate notifications appointing the two new special assistants.
The port-folios of the new advisers and special assistants are likely to be announced by the Cabinet Division.
