4 arrested with stolen gold, cash from 3 districts

Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in separate drives arrested four members of a thieves' gang from Cox's Bazar, Mymensingh and Dhaka districts and recovered 52 tolas of stolen gold and Tk 5 lakh from their possession.

The arrested are Md Himel Miah, 20, Farzana Akhter Ety, 27, her husband Mashfiq Alam, 33, and father Abdul Jabbad, 70.
Himel, an employee of Asif Jewellers at Mouchak in the capital city, fled away with 59 tolas of gold from the factory of the jewellery on October 30 last, according to a press release. Alimuddin, owner of the jewellery shop, later filed a case with Ramna Police Station.
