A group of Jahangirnagar University (JU) students on Sunday demanded immediate election of the Jahangirnagar University Central Students' Union (JUCSU) and ban on partisan student politics.

The protesters formed a human chain under the banner of 'Anti-Discrimination Student Movement' at around 1:00 pm in front of the new administrative building.

Their  three demands include: removal of Social Sciences faculty Dean Prof Bashir Ahmed and other faculty members including employees involved in attacking student, action against banned Bangladesh Chhatra League activists who were involved in attacks on July 14, 15,17 and immediate JUCSU election to ensure proper student representation, as well as banning partisan student politics.

Addressing the human chain, Mehrab Sifat, a coordinator of the platform, said, "A murderer can never become a teacher. Pro-Awami League teacher Bashir Ahmed and his collaborators worked to ruin the anti-discrimination movement like before. But we became successful."

Terming the indifference of JU administration as the betrayal of the martyrs of the movement, Shifat said, "The administration must take appropriate action to prevent BCL from being rehabilitated and relieve the involved person in the attack from their administrative posts."

After the human chain, protesters marched to Vice Chancellor Professor Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan's office to present their points demands.
