Three individuals have been arrested in connection with the murder of a freedom fighter in Bhola's Tajumuddin upazila.
The suspects are named in the first information report (FIR) filed on August 7, 2024, and have been taken into custody following a police operation.
The arrests were made earlier on Thursday with the help of technology, in the Chandana Chowrasta area under Gazipur GMP Basan police jurisdiction. With these recent arrests, a total of five people have been detained in the case.
On Sunday morning, police personnel from Tajumuddin Police Station presented the three detainees in court.
The arrested individuals are identified as Fazlul Haque alias Fayez Uddin, 37, Farid Uddin, 45, Zakir, 26, Abdul Haque, 60, and Zahir, 35. Meanwhile, two other suspects, Laboni Akter, 30, and Sharmin Akter, 32, remain at large.
SI Abdul Quddus, the investigating officer, detailed the incident, stating that on the night of August 5 at around 9 PM, Mahmudullah Mia, a former Union Parishad member from North Chachra village in Chachra Union's ward No 1, was brutally assaulted and hacked by Abdul Rob and his family members.
The attack left him severely injured, and he was declared dead upon arrival at Tajumuddin Upazila Health Complex.
Following the incident, Mahmudullah's son, Ahsan Ullah, filed a murder case at Tajumuddin Police Station, which initiated the investigation and subsequent arrests.
