The government will take effective measures for the immediate and permanent solutions of the water logging problem in Bhabodah of Jashore after taking the opinion of the local people.
Water Resources, Environment and Climate Change Affairs Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan told this after visiting the submerged Bhabodah in Jashore on Sunday and exchanged views with locals.
She said special committees would be formed comprising the representatives of the students and local people in this regard.
The adviser also assured of adequate relief materials for the submerged people.
Earlier, the adviser along with water resources secretary Md Nazmul Ahsan and senior officials of the Water Development Board (WDB) reached Amdanga Khal at about 11AM.
They witnessed the present condition of the cannel and told local people that the cannel would be re-excavated soon to pass the stagnant water to the Bhairab River through this canel.
The adviser later went to the Sundali Bazar of the upazila where several hundred affected people gathered.
She listened their sufferings and inhuman livelihood and told them that she will talk to the highest level of the government regarding the issue and will take urgent and long-term steps to solve the water logging problems of Bhabodah.
She said several projects were taken earlier in this regard, but the water-logging problem was not solved. They will find out the reason behind the unsuccessful projects and if anybody was found involved in irregularities, will be punished.
Rizwas also asked the deputy commissioner in Jashore to take action against those, who illegally doing business taking control on fish enclosures.
Director General (DG) of the WDB Amirul Haque Bhuiyan, chief advisor of Bhabodah Pani Niskashan Sangram Committee Iqbal Kabir Zahid, president of the committee Ranojit Kumar Bawali, president of Dhaka based Manirampur Samity Engineer Iqbal Kabir and former principal of Bhabodah Degree College Abdul Motalem Sardar, among others, were accompanied with the adviser.
