A case has been filed at Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate court accusing 19 individuals including former chairman of Grameen Bank Dr AKM Saiful Majid on charge of attacking and occupying Grameen Telecom Bhaban.
Grameen Kalyan's managing director Abul Kalam Mohammad Moinuddin Chowdhury filed the case at the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) court on Sunday (November 10). On behalf of the plaintiff, Barrister Abdullah Al Mamun held a hearing on the case.
Accepting the case as an ezahar, the CMM court's judge Partha Pratim directed the Mirpur Shah Ali Police Station to investigate it.
It was alleged in the case that an attack was carried out at Nobel Laureate economist Dr Muhammad Yunus' Grameen Telecoom's head office on February 12 this year to occupy it. Grameen Bank's former chairman AKM Saiful Majid and Barrister Masud Akter were among many others behind the attack.
In the case, charges of occupation, vandalism, looting and fraudulent practices were brought against the accused.
