Police arrested two alleged drug peddlers along with 48 kilograms of hemp from Manda upazila in Naogaon district on Friday.
The drive, conducted at around 9 PM on Friday at Satihat area of the upazila, resulting in to arrest Md Rony, 26, from Namotila village under Shibganj upazila of Chapainawabganj distric, and Md Asmaul Hossain, 38, from Binodpur village in the same upazila.
Manda Police Station officer-in-charge Mansur Rahman confirmed the matter in a press briefing on Saturday afternoon.
The OC said that they were tipped-off that a huge consignment of drugs will be smuggled to Naogaon from Rajshahi. Following the information, a team of police set a checkpost in Ferryghat area and challenged a suspected truck.
While searching the truck, police recovered 48 kilograms of hemp and seized the vehicle with 60 drums of palm oil.
Later, the arrested were sent to jail after filling a case under Narcotics Control Act, added the OC.
