Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said the interim government will have to be given time. This government has done a lot of works in three months. They have formed commissions for reforms and taken initiatives to try the fascism.
"We can't lose this opportunity in any way," he said while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion organised by the National Youth Forum at Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) Auditorium on Saturday (November 9) afternoon.
The BNP Secretary General observed that no reforms would be meaningful without the participation of people. It should be carried on under the parliamentary system which requires election.
Mirza Fakhrul said the fascists resorted to hatching conspiracies due to the utterances of various negative discourses. Some media are also promoting those remarks which must be stopped.
He expressed deep concern saying that the accomplices of fascists have started resurfacing due to the negative discourses among democratic forces.
"One thing to note is that the fascists have started raising their heads again due to various negative statements and discourses. Unfortunately, some of our media are promoting this, which I believe, will bring no good for people in any way," he said.
According to Mirza Fakhrul, the only way to overcome the crisis facing the nation is through patience, the completion of necessary state reforms and holding a fair and credible election.
He said everyone should remember one thing that the nation must not miss the opportunity now created through the student-led mass uprising to rebuild the state. "If this opportunity is lost, our very existence as a nation will be endangered. I want to emphasise this point."
Mentioning that youths are the country's future, the BNP leader said, "We have to apply the experiences of elderly and strengths of youth for the greater welfare of the nation."
