Bangladesh set a target of 253 runs for Afghanistan in the second ODI of three-match series in Sharjah on Saturday.

After decided to bat first, Bangladesh skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto, who was vocal in wanting batters to capitalize once they got set, showed the way, top-scoring with 76. The others then chipped in with cameos, although Jaker's might qualify as the most important, giving Bangladesh the impetus and the momentum they needed to cross 250.

Earlier, Afghanistan had reduced Bangladesh to 184-6 and seemed favourites to be chasing a sub-230 score. However, their death-bowling, compounded by Farooqi having an off-day, let them down.

Prior to that, their spin troika of Ghazanfar, Kharote and Rashid was superb. Rashid and Ghazanfar bagged two, with Kharote accounting for three batters.
