Police have recovered the hanging bodies of a couple from a rented apartment near Choudhury Para Children's Park in Dhaka's Rampura on Saturday.
The deceased were Jubayer Hossain Bipul, 27, from Balarampur village in Pabna Sadar, and his wife Monisha Akter, 18, from Nalgaon village in Kapasia upazila of Gazipur. The couple reportedly married two months ago.
The incident occurred on Saturday evening, when the couple was found unconscious in their home around 6 PM. They were rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where on-duty doctors declared them dead.
Rampura Police Station sub-inspector Mohammad Baset Mia said, "After being informed, we broke down the door of the apartment in Choudhury Para and discovered Jubayer hanging from a ceiling fan and Monisha hanging from the window grill. We immediately transported them to DMCH but doctors confirmed they had already passed away."
SI Baset Mia added, "We learned from family members that the couple had married two months ago of their own accord. Jubayer ran a motorcycle garage, while Monisha was a homemaker. We suspect that this tragic incident might have resulted from domestic strife. We have notified their families and sent the bodies for autopsy at the DMCH morgue. Legal procedures are ongoing to determine the exact cause of death."
