Bangladesh could experience mild to moderate cold waves between this month and January
The country is likely to witness a severe winter this winter, with temperature may dip to as low as 4°C, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).
In a long-term forecast released on Saturday, the BMD hinted that Bangladesh could experience mild (8-10°C) to moderate (6-8°C) cold waves between this month and January.
Besides, two to three severe cold waves are likely to affect the northwest, northeast, and central regions, with temperatures potentially dropping to 4-6°C in those areas.
The forecast also warns of moderate to dense fog in the northern, north-western, central, and river basin regions from late night until morning.
This dense fog may reduce the temperature difference between day and night, enhancing the chill factor and increasing the sensation of cold.
