Police in Moulvibazar's Kamalganj upazila have recovered the body of a young housewife on Saturday.

Though the victim's in-laws claimed the incident as a suicide, but suspicions raised from her family that she was murdered.
Shahina Akter, 22, was wife of Sajim Mia of Bikram Kals village in Munshibazar union.

The victim's father, Ibrahim Mia, a resident of Chaitanyaganj village in Kamalganj Sadar union, alleges foul play.

Ibrahim Mia said, "My son-in-law, Sajim Mia, called me Saturday morning and told me that Shahina had suddenly lost consciousness. We rushed over, only to find my daughter dead with visible marks around her neck. My daughter endured repeated abuse from her husband. We even took her back home several times, considering keeping her from returning to her husband's house but local elders mediated a reconciliation. Now they have killed her. I want justice for my daughter's murder."

Shahina's husband, Sajim Mia, claims, "We had an argument last night. In the morning, I found her hanging in our room and took her down. People are accusing me of murder but I did not kill my wife."

Kamalganj Police Station officer-in-charge Syed Iftekhar Hossain siad, "Upon receiving reports of the incident, we immediately dispatched police to the scene. Whether it was a murder or a suicide will be determined through our investigation. The body has been sent to Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy. No official complaint has been filed with us yet."
