Police have detained 19 union parishad members from a resort during a raid in Cox's Bazar's Hotel-Motel Zone.

They were detained from a room of 'Uni Resort' in Kalatoli area of the district town around 11PM on Friday.

Sadar Police Station OC Foyzul Azim Noman confirmed this.

Getting an information that some Awami League-backed UP members were holding a secret meeting, a team of police conducted a raid at the resort and detained the UP members, police said.
One of the detainees Zahir Ahmed, a member of Teknaf Sadar Union Parishad, alleged 70 UP members of an association 'Members Association' gathered in the resort for a discussion.
Suddenly, police along with over 50 student coordinators of the district entered the hotel and started to harass them and picked up 19, he added.

During the drive, tourists were seen leaving the resort fearing police harassment.
