A younger brother allegedly killed his elder brother, who recently returned from Kuwait after 11 years, following disputes over an illicit relationship with his sister-in-law at Sirajdikhan upazila in Munshiganj on Friday.

The tragic incident occurred on Friday around 11 AM in Charpania village under Baluchar union in the upazila.
Police have detained the accused, Harun Mia, 35, the younger brother of the victim, Hasan Mia.

According to locals, Hasan, the eldest son of Dulu Mia, had been working in Kuwait for over a decade. During his absence, his younger brother Harun allegedly developed an affair with Hasan's wife, Hasina Begum. When this relationship became known in the village, Hasan returned to Bangladesh on November 3 to address the matter.

The family had planned an arbitration meeting after Friday prayers to resolve the issue. However, before the meeting could take place, Harun allegedly attacked his elder brother Hasan with a sharp weapon, killing him on the spot.

While trying to flee, Harun was apprehended by locals and handed over to the police.

Sirajdikhan Police Station officer-in-charge Khandaker Hafizur Rahman confirmed the incident.

"The prime suspect has been taken into custody. Initial reports indicate that a dispute over an affair between the brother-in-law and the sister-in-law led to this tragic incident. Further legal action will be taken based on the family's complaint and ongoing investigation," added the OC.
