Two siblings were killed and three others, including their father, injured in a collision between a bus and CNG-run autorickshaw at Debidwar upazila in Comilla district on Thursday night.
Debidwar Police Station's Inspector Md Shahinul Islam said the accident happened on the Comilla-Sylhet regional highway at Zafarganj union of Debidwar upazila.
The deceased Junayed, 12, and his sister Fahima Akter, 9, are the son and daughter of Jahangir Alam of Hossainpur village in the upazila.
The identities of the rest injured could not be known.
It was learnt that Jahangir was taking his children to their (maternal) grandfather's house upon their request on Thursday night on boarding an autorickshaw. There were three other passengers on board the autorickshaw besides the driver. At that time, a passenger bus belonging to Sugandha Paribahan, coming from the opposite direction, rammed the autorickshaw on Comilla-Sylhet highway at Chhagura area, leaving Junayed and Fahima dead inside the autorickshaw and three others injured.
The injured including Jahangir Alam were admitted to Debidwar Upazila Health Complex, police said.
Outraged by it, locals vandalised five buses of Sugandha Paribahan.
Later, the highway police went to the spot and seized both the bus and autorickshaw, but the bus driver managed to escape.
