Tigers desperate to square series winning today

The second ODI of the three-match series between Afghanistan and Bangladesh is scheduled to be held at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in the UAE today. With 1-0 lead, Afghans are hopeful to secure title winning today, while the Tigers are frantic to level the series.

The match will begin at 4:00 PM (BST).

After a massive 92-run blow in the series starter, they got another bad news as key cog Mushfiqur Rahim is going to miss the remaining matches of the series due to injury.

So one change is obvious there and wicketkeeper Jaker Ali is going to replace Mushfiqur. Leggy Rishad Hossain might be succeeded by left-arm orthodox Nasum Ahmed, while Zakir Hasan can be seen to pair with Soumya Sarkar to open Bangladesh innings.

In that case Tanzid Hasan Tamim will be rested. Inclusion of Nahid Rana in place of Shoriful Islam also will not be surprising.

Soumya, Shanto and Miraz got starts in the first match but failed to anchor the innings to ensure team's victory. They lost eight wickets in 19 runs in the earlier match. The newly appointed coaching panel might be work on their batting approach ahead of this crucial encounter.

However, skipper Nazmul Hossain Shanto, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Mahmudullah Riyad and Tawhid Hridoy anchor the middle order, with Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman heading up the pace attack.

Afghanistan too, will hardly alter the winning combination as Captain Hashmatullah Shahidi veterans Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi along with young gun Mohammad Ghazanfar had been phenomenal in the series opener. Besides, they have proven performers like Rahmat Shah, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Darwish Rasooli, Azmatullah Omarzai, Gulbadin Naib, Fazalhaq Farooqi and Bilal Sami in the line-up.

Known for its short boundaries as well as slow and spin-friendly pitch, the Sharjah Cricket Stadium often favours batters and making it conducive to high scores. Dew is expected in the evening, so the team winning the toss may prefer to bowl first to manage the conditions better.
