Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) will test dengue free of cost aimed at detecting the patients suffering from dengue through proper diagnosis.
From now on, the patients' sufferings from dengue fever can avail the test facilities at City Hospital and Urban Primary Healthcare Centres.
Besides, the city corporation has adopted various initiatives to generate awareness among the public in general to prevent dengue.
Under its 'Pilot Programmatic Partnership Project (PPPP)', Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) handed over 5,000 dengue testing kits to RCC at its city bhaban conference hall here on Thursday afternoon, BSS reports.
Rajshahi Divisional Commissioner and RCC Administrator Dr Dewan Muhammad Humayun Kabir received the kits on behalf of the city corporation.
BDRCS City unit Vice-chairman Rejaul Karim, RCC Chief Health Officer Dr AFM Anjuman Ara Begum and Field EPPR Officers Dr Shahnewaj Rashid Sabbir and Abu Zubayer Shamim Mirza were present.
Speaking on the occasion, RCC Administrator said they have taken initiatives of expediting its conservancy and other cleanliness activities to prevent the dengue spread.
Apart from this, they have already strengthened the activities of preventing the breeding places of mosquitoes and generating awareness among the public in general in this regard.
Giving direction to the ward level officers and others concerned Dr Humayun Kabir said there is no way but to prevent the breeding of mosquitoes and generate mass-awareness to resist dengue spread.
He asked them to expedite their activities more to attain the cherished goal.
He also said legal action will be taken against the owner of houses, buildings and institutions if mosquito larvae are found in their catchment areas.
