SAVAR, Nov 7: A pregnant housewife has allegedly been beaten to death in Dhaka's Dhamrai following an argument over a 'chicken getting into the kitchen'.
Police have detained one person in connection with the incident.
The incident occurred in the Paikpara area of Dhamrai's Bhararia Union on Thursday morning, according to Sub Inspector Md Azharul Islam of Dhamrai Police Station.
The deceased, 30-year-old Kulsum Akhtar, is the wife of local resident Iyar Hossain. She was four-months pregnant. The couple also have a five-year-old son.
The detainee is 60-year-old Amina Khatun, a resident of the Bannakhola area of Kushura Union. She is the grandmother-in-law of the victim.
Kulsum's brother Md Iqbal Hossain has filed a complaint against four people over her death. They are Kulsum's mother-in-law Surja Banu, 45, father-in-law Aynal Pagla, 55, sister-in-law Yasmin, 19, and Amina. —bdnews24.com
