Two brothers drowned in a pond at Bauful upazila in Patuakhali district on Thursday afternoon.
The incident happened at around 2:00pm at Taterkathi village under Nazirpur union in the upazila.
The deceased were identified as Imam Hossain, 6 and Abu Bakar, 4, sons of Kabir Hossain Sikdar, residents of the area.
It was learnt that Kabir Hossain Sikdar had taken his two sons to the pond for bathing. He, then, went to his house with a water laden pitcher.When he returned to the pond, he found his two sons were missing. Later, the bodies were recovered from the pond.
Arefin Shahed, officer-in-charge of Bauful Police Station, confirmed the incident.
