Police have arrested two Awami League leaders in a case filed over the vandalism and torching of a union BNP office at Porsha upazila in Naogaon district.
They were arrested on Wednesday night and Tursday morning respectively.
The arrested men are Khairul Islam, 45, son of late Lutfar Rahman, a member of Ganguria union Awami League in the upazila; and Hasan, 50, general secretary of Ward No 9 under Nitpur union in the upazila.
Shahin Reza, officer-in-charge of Porsha Police Station, said, "On November 3, the BNP office in Nitpur union was set on fire by miscreants. Following the arson attack, BNP leader Maidur Rahman filed a case with the police, naming 60 people with 80 to 90 unnamed individuals. After the case was filed, police arrested Hasan from his house and Khairul Islam from Soraigashi intersection in the upazila".
The arrested people have been sent to Jail on Thursday, the police official added.
