Three electrocuted in Kushtia, Netrakona

Three men were electrocuted and another was injured in separate incidents in two districts - Kushtia and Netrakona, on Tuesday.

DAULATPUR, KUSHTIA: A young man was electrocuted in Daulatpur Upazila of the district on Tuesday evening.

The incident took place in Mahishkundi Dakpara Village under the upazila at around 6 pm.

The deceased was identified as Sanjid, 20, son of Rezaul Haque of Dakpara Village. He was shop owner by profession. 

It was known that Sanjid came in contact with live electricity in the evening when he was closing his shop, which left him critically injured.

Locals then rescued the injured and rushed him to a village doctor, where Sanjid was declared dead.

NETRAKONA: Two people died and another was injured from electrocution in Kalmakanda Upazila of the district on Tuesday. The accident took place in Bekrikanda Village under Pogla Union of the upazila in the morning.

The deceased were identified as former army personnel Rafiqul Islam, 55, and agricultural labourer Suman Mia, 32, residents of the aforesaid village. The injured person is Zaidul Mia, 40.

According to police, they were repairing an electric water pump for irrigating the land behind the house of Rafiqul Islam at around 8 am. 

At that time, Rafiqul came in contact with live electricity. When the rest two tried to save Rafiqul, both of them got electrocuted by the wire. 

Later on, locals rescued the three injured and took them to Netrakona Sadar Adhunik Hospital, where the on-duty doctors declared the two dead. Seriously injured Zaidul was shifted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for better treatment.

Officer-in-Charge of Kalmakanda Police Station Feroz Hossain confirmed the incident, adding that necessary steps would be taken in this regard.
