Two individuals were killed and another two injured in a road accident at Dhanbari upazila in Tangail district on Wednesday.
The accident happened in the small hours of Wednesday at Baniajan Bus Stand area along the Dhaka-Tangail-Joydebpur Highway.
The deceased were identified as Akbar Hossain, 32, son of Sada Ali from Kushtia's Daulatpur upazila, Abbas Sardar, 39, son of Habu Sardar from the same area.
Citing locals, Dhanbari Police Station officer-in-charge SM Shahidullah said that the accident occurred when the driver of the Jamalpur-bound truck from Khulna lost control over the steering and overturned into a roadside ditch. Two passengers of the vehicle died on the spot and two others sustained critical injuries at that time.
On information, police personnel and firefighters rushed there and rescued the two injured, who were subsequently sent to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for better treatment, he said.
The bodies were kept at police custody and the necessary actions were underway to be taken in this regard, added the OC.
