Indonesian citizen drowns in Dinajpur river

An Indonesian citizen drowned in the Karatoa River at Ghoraghat Upazila in Dinajpur on Wednesday morning.

The incident took place around 8:30 am at Kulanandpur Ghat of the Karatoa River under Bulakipur Union.
The dead Faizir Rahman, 49, was an Indonesian citizen.

Ghoraghat Fire Service station in-charge Ataur Rahman said initially members of Ghoraghat Fire Service conducted a rescue operation in the river. Later, divers came from Rangpur and recovered the body. 

His passport was recovered. He had come as a companion of Tabligh to Kulandpur village in Ghoraghat a few days ago, he added.

Ghoraghat Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Nazmul Haque said, 'The body has been recovered. As the deceased is an Indonesian citizen we have informed our higher authorities.'
