A legal notice has been served on the government seeking cancellation of all deals with Indian electricity generating company Adani Power.
Supreme Court lawyer Barrister M Kaiyum sent the notice on Wednesday morning by post.
The notice calls for an immediate review of the unfair unilateral contract or cancellation altogether. If Adani does not start the contract review process within three days, he will file a writ in the High Court, Barrister Kaiyum added.
It has also urged to give a detailed report forming a committee consisting of energy and legal experts. PDB chairman and the Secretary of the Ministry of Energy have been given three days to respond to the legal notice.
Adani's coal-fired Godda plant in India's Jharkhand state -- a $2 billion project including transmission lines that opened last year -- usually supplies between seven to 10 percent of Bangladesh's baseload power demand of 13GW.
But Adani had warned Dhaka in September to settle its bills, which had surged to around $850 million.
Bangladesh paid $97 million to Adani in October, which was "higher than the previous three months' payment".
